Trip Info This is the 43rd Kentucky Youth Mission Trip! This trip has evolved over the years, from a weekend trip, where we dropped off clothing and other items for the resale store at Christian Social Services, to the current trip in which we spend a week in Morehead and the surrounding Appalachia area doing service projects with Christian Social Services, Habitat for Humanity, and other local service organizations. KYMT Basics Depart: Sunday, June 14 after 8:30am Mass from St. Elizabeth; attending Mass together Return: Friday, June 19, early evening Cost: $450 - Students who help with fundraisers get a discount; the last two years everyone has gone FREE. We carpool down and stay in the basement of Jesus Our Savior Church on Morehead State University’s campus. Our required chaperone (21+) to child ratio is at least 1:6 (determined by space in vehicles). All sleeping arrangements are divided by gender. Who can go? All youth 13-17 years old, as well as young adult leaders (18-20 year-olds) and adults who wish to chaperone (aged 21 and older). Our group size will be determined by how many chaperones we have sign up as well as how many projects we have lined up. Our current team is Heather Marsh, Jeff Waterbury, Mackenzie Cytlak, Wayne Ahlers and BIll Kalmeta. Fundraising Currently, there is our Valentine Dinner (February 13), a euchre tournament (March 22) and our Mother's Day brunch (May 10). Additional fundraisers may be scheduled, depending on the group size. All funds will be split amongst those who volunteer at the fundraisers (the total amount raised will be divided by the total number of hours worked and each child will earn $/hour). In the past, most of our participants raise their entire trip cost. There are also optional fundraisers for those who would like to put money directly toward their personal trip cost. BABY BOTTLE DRIVE The Knights of Columbus will be sponsoring a Baby Bottle Drive for the Lenawee Care Pregnancy Center in Adrian. The CPC assists young-women-who-are-pregnant with a variety of services to equip them to take care of a baby, provide prenatal care, parenting classes, supplies, formula, and much more. Over the last four decades, the CPC has evolved into a center that helps not only pregnant and new moms, but families as well. Its mission is to provide Christian care to elevate God's plan for the sacredness of life. Last year, through your generous support, we collected over $4,600.00. This year, Knights will be distributing the bottles at all Masses at St. Elizabeth on Mother's Day weekend (May 9 & 10).
